I think I'm going to start work on making this page PHP. I have a lot of stuff that's almost cut-and-paste, but I don't have access to a decent database, which is frustrating. Intead of a SQL-like DB, we've got some kind of Access database that I have to use ODBC or OLEDB to get to.
It beats no database, I guess, and it's a... learning opportunity! Yeah. Not a pain in the ass... In any case, I'll need to figure out how to use the rather dated ODBC protocols before I can get anything useful done.

351 has been frustrating so far. ASP.NET feels like we're learning the child's way of doing things. It's like using Frontpage to make a page without knowing the HTML behind it. But, you know, dynamically. It makes it fairly simple to do fairly complex tasks, but we have no idea what's going on in the background. The whole thing just sort of magicks itself together, so you just cross your fingers and hope you don't get any really weird errors.
I've been thinking about making a new layout, as this one is almost painfully simple, but I'm not sure I want to go to a more complex layout.
I made this signature... thing... a while ago and I don't think I ever linked it on the main page.
[SF] is a clan that plays various games, and I'm part of their Battlefield 2 division. In Battlefield 2, I usually play a medic, and I had this picture sitting around, so I really couldn't help myself.
Right?

So as it turns out, you can use cjk-ideographic, hiragana, and katakana as list numbering schemes via list-style-type. It turns out like the following:
| cjk-ideographic | hiragana | katakana |
|

Just some more messing around with Javascript. The way I'm doing the top nav is a little silly, but...

Playing around with some Javascript to generate the top nav. It's kind of cool, I think, but I'm having some issues with paths. For example, I'm having issues deciding if I want to have a constant navbar that uses absolute links and goes to (for example) http://www.williamlockwood.com/index.html .
The problem is that if I use the .js method of generating the navbar, it'll pretty much always be the same, and would need to be modified for each page, which would defeat the purpose of the whole thing. I've considered building the script so that it accepts a string that modifies links so that they work from wherever the page is, and at least that way, the bulk of the navbar remains unchanged. In fact, I might be able to use that to generate the stylesheet link. That'd be convenient.
This will all be moot once I switch the site over to PHP...

Well, that's certainly a bizarre navigation bar. That's my little foray into IDs. It looks like IDs are classes that only come about once.

Got some picture index pages up, but you still can't get to those unless you know where they are. Yarr! Oh, and I need a link so that I can play with the CSS for that. I've been slacking off on my CSS-playing. Microsoft's site sure looks different now, doesn't it?
11:36 - Ha, that's a nice touch. I like Courier for external links.

Playing around with CSS and re-learning that. I haven't played with CSS since the days of Jynxed Productions. Hell, I guess I haven't been doing much with HTML since then. Arr, so much to learn...
"Happy Birthday!" to Dad and Josh. May your days be lazy and filled with tasty things.

I'll be playing around with some random stuff on this page later, but for now, this is all you get. Up until mid-June, we were having DNS issues, but they seem to be resolved.
